“Hollybrook is a wonderful place because everyone looks after each other.” Year 6 pupil

Music

All children follow National Curriculum music. There are also opportunities for pupils to learn to play a musical instrument in school through regular lessons with visiting teachers. The school has a strong tradition in this area and our orchestra and choirs are a source of pride.

Children are offered music lessons across the school. In year three we run a whole class instrumental and vocal programme, where the children learn drumming for a term, recorder for a term and ukulele for a term.

Children in years four, five and six are offered a range of musical instruments lessons. Lessons are run on a weekly basis in small groups by specialist peripatetic music teachers from Southampton Music Services. The school will charge for these lessons on a termly basis although to encourage pupils to enjoy the benefits of learning an instrument, the school heavily subsidises the cost.
